If you choose to use sunscreen on your course, it must be non-toxic and "reef friendly." Coral reefs are being damaged by the sunscreens and lotions that visitors wear - even at low levels. In response, reef-friendly, biodegradable sunscreens are often required. Our desert water sources are also fragile - in order to reduce the amount of toxic impact we have, BOSS now requires that if you use sunscreen products, they must be biodegradable and "reef-friendly". Better yet - wear a broad-brimmed hat and lightweight long sleeve shirt for protection!
