I came to BOSS because:

I was getting rather complacent in my day-to-day life and I wanted to do something difficult. I also had a deep yearning for a fully immersive wilderness experience.

I teach at BOSS because:

I like to remind people (including myself) how little they need to thrive and feel fulfilled. Plus there is truly nothing better than witnessing someone get their first friction fire.

About Maria:

I’ve worked as a seamstress in a costume shop, a nanny, in a packing warehouse, a tutor, a wilderness therapy guide, selling vegetables, and, most recently, as a 5th grade teacher – but nothing has pushed me quite as hard mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually as a BOSS course. And because of that, every BOSS course I’ve been on is a gift. My dreams are filled with images of canyons and the feeling of waking up nestled underneath a shrubby pinyon pine. I am prone to taking a very long time to make myself comfortable, even if my bed is made of dirt and rocks and pine needles.
