Scholarships

We believe that BOSS should be accessible to anyone capable of the challenge. For many people, attending a BOSS course is just slightly out of reach financially. We have established an official BOSS Scholarship Fund to give small grants to students demonstrating financial need and strong merit. We recognize that some people who want to take a BOSS course may not be able to afford the full tuition. To assist these people and others with attending the school, BOSS offers the following discounts:

Discounts

Alumni Discount: BOSS alumni receive 10% off all future BOSS courses (excluding Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Responder Recertification, and Slickrock Gathering courses).

Military Discount: All veterans and active military receive a 10% discount (excluding Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Responder Recertification, and Slickrock Gathering courses).

Outdoor Guides Discount: Currently employed outdoor industry professionals receive 20% off their BOSS course (Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness First Responder Recertification, and Slickrock Gathering courses excluded). Proof of paid, current employment must be provided to BOSS. Employment must be with a client-based guide service company (i.e., outfitter, wilderness school, etc.). For more information, please contact us.

Scholarships

In addition to the discounts listed above, BOSS currently offers three different scholarships to assist with tuition reduction for people who need it.  See a list of our past scholarship recipients.

BOSS Grants

Our most flexible grant. BOSS Grants are offered in $500, $750, and $1000 increments and can be applied to any BOSS Field or Skills course. Any student or alumnus is welcome to apply.

Boulder Grants

To apply for a Boulder grant, you must be a resident of Boulder, Utah. A Boulder grant does not have a specific dollar amount. It depends on the needs of the resident to attend BOSS.

28-Day Scholarship

A special scholarship offered by a BOSS almnus, Nikhil Bhatla, for our signature course, the BOSS 28-Day Field Course. This scholarship is designed for students who may need more significant financial aid to attend our most expensive course.
