Dear BOSS Community,
We are sending out a big, group double-hoot with enormous news to share:
2018 is BOSS’s 50th anniversary season. And on the cusp of this momentous occasion, we are proud to announce that BOSS is transitioning into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.Wow. We are making this leap for a number of reasons, the biggest one being we want to amplify our Positive Impact on the world. Schools like BOSS are a benefit to society, which is why they are given tax-exempt status from the IRS, allowed to take in tax-deductible donations, and apply for grants. These are huge advantages, and when it comes to our mission, we want to leave no stone unturned.
Perhaps more than ever, human beings need to connect to the natural world. We know this, which has always presented a conundrum. We don’t spam your inbox or clamor for your attention to upsell you stuff you don’t need. In fact, in a way, we exist to restore the human attention span and show how little one really needs to be happy.
But on this occasion, our 50th Anniversary, we are asking for your help.
Our long term goals? To offer more scholarships to a wider audience, to expand our program offerings, and to invest in the infrastructure we need: staff, legal, accounting, technology and communications, to become everything we can be as a school.
Our goal? $50,000 before the 31st of December.
When we achieve this goal, we will set BOSS on an entirely new trajectory for 2018 and beyond.
If BOSS had a Positive Impact on you, we ask that you Donate Today to our campaign through the Communication Foundation of Utah. While our 501(c)(3) application is pending this organization is acting as our fiscal sponsor. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible, and funds will go directly to BOSS.
The Hero’s Journey is not supposed to be easy, but it is not made without help, either. We are calling all fire-makers, navigators, hunters, gatherers and soul seekers.
You have all our gratitude for the last fifty years…
Here’s to fifty more…
In love, and adventure, The BOSS Staff
