Any and all medications that you plan to be taking on a BOSS course must be stated clearly on your course paperwork. This includes Prozac, lithium, aspirin, birth control pills, vitamins, etc. If at all possible, Field Course students should consult with their physicians in order to discontinue use of medications and supplements well in advance of their course to minimize withdrawal symptoms and give your body a chance to acclimatize. Remember, you will be stressing your body enough when you are with us; don't add to it by quitting your meds the day before you arrive.
Meds on Field and Explorer Courses:
BOSS requires all students who are on medications or supplements to get a physician's letter explaining the medication, purposes, side effects, and their clear permission to take these medications on an empty stomach with little or no water. Some medications require that they be taken with a full stomach and plenty of water and both students and physicians must realize that this may not be possible every day on certain courses.
Meds on Skills Courses:
Because you are eating regularly
in a relatively non-strenuous environment, we do allow medications on Skills
Courses. Please be sure, however, to provide all relevant information to us
so that we can be aware of possible side-effects and complications.
If you have questions about particular medications, please contact Jenny Stein
via e-mail or
at 800-335-7404.
