When CAST AWAY producers wanted a survival consultant for Tom Hank's tropical island scenes, they came to BOSS. When National Geographic Explorer wanted to film outdoor survival with industry experts, they came to BOSS. And when people feel the desire to learn traditional skills and explore the wilderness without a dependence on modern gear...they come to BOSS.

Since 1968, the Boulder Outdoor Survival School —- known to most simply as BOSS — has delivered life-changing, wilderness-based experiences to adventurous people all over the world. We believe that as our society continues down the path of dependence on technology, it is critical that we maintain a connection with the legacy of traditional cultures and our heritage as humans. True, you may never need to know how to make fire from sticks, how to build shelters from leaves or snow, or how to make tools from natural materials, but there is a part of all of us that benefits from this knowledge.

It is only with this intimate understanding of 'primitive' philosophies and the wilderness that our culture can successfully move forward in this new Millennium. If you are interested in walking along these paths of ancient wisdom and skill, we look forward to seeing you on the trail with us at BOSS.

In adventure,
