About
the Scholarship
On July 17, 2006, BOSS student David Buschow died on the 2nd day of a BOSS
28-day Field Course. As referenced in the media and in a public
statement, the tragedy was amicably resolved between BOSS and the Bushow
family on November 12, 2007.
At the request of the Buschow family, BOSS is offering a scholarship for one qualified student to attend a 28-Day Field Course each year. This scholarship covers course tuition ($3,875) but does not cover travel costs, equipment, or personal expenses before/after the trip.
Applications for the 2009 Scholarship are available by contacting Jenny Stein at BOSS and must be submitted by February 2, 2009. The recipient will be announced by March 1, 2009.
More information about the recipients of this Scholarship and how their courses and experiences at BOSS have affected them may be posted here after they have completed their trips. We at BOSS hope that, in time, this section of our website will grow to become a tribute to David Buschow's memory and his passion for the wilderness.
